Romania to host five-team Women's Continental Cup in August
Defending champions Norway return along with Czechia, Guernsey and Malta
Teams from across Europe are set to descend on Romania for the 2026 edition of the Women’s Continental Cup.
Guernsey, Malta, Czechia and defending champions Norway will visit the Moara Vlasiei Cricket Ground outside Bucharest from August 27-30 as the competition enters its third year as a multi-nation event.
The tournament forms part of a busy summer for Czechia Women as they host the Central Europe Cup in late June and then the Falling Wickets Cup in early September. Details for both competitions have yet to be finalised.
Despite making their international debut in 2024, the Czech side have yet to win any of their 19 T20Is so far.
For Guernsey the competition is an opportunity to return to regular international cricket, the Sarnians only played one fixture in 2025, a rain shortened defeat to local rivals Jersey.
After creating a new women’s domestic structure last year, Head Coach Ilze Van Der Westhuizen is confident about the increased depth of her squad.
“The launch of the Women’s Super League last year was a significant milestone for Guernsey Cricket. It has created depth, competitiveness, and consistency within the women’s game locally.” said the former Surrey and Boland player. who started her role in January.
“We now have a strong domestic platform from which to select our national squad, and this tournament presents an exciting opportunity to test ourselves internationally.”
Romania and Norway will be reunited after last year’s tournament which saw the Scandinavians take the title on Net Run Rate despite losing to the hosts by 8 wickets.
Two dominant victories on the final day against Austria and Bulgaria saw Mirab Razwan’s side pip the home team by just 0.089 NRR to lift the trophy.
